Topographic surveys are needed to locate ample elevation data and will show all improvements, swells, and the slopes of the land in order to create a three dimensional map of the project, and show contour lines to an accuracy of ½ foot or whatever the client needs. There has always been a need for better maps to help communicate, not just show boundaries.

With the advent of computer technologies and other advances, ability to provide high-resolution aerial photos, and other enhancements  to the topographic maps, as we all have heard that a picture is worth a thousand words, a great map is potentially millions of dollars to an entity.

Accurate topographic maps provide the perspective needed as the three dimensional data can be viewed digitally in CAD and GIS software, and any engineering or design changes needed to comply with the original design goals can be made.
