The use of a GPS (Global Positioning Systems) reference network that is continuing to grow in North Texas (specifically the Barnett Shale counties) enables our field personnel to obtain data and perpetuate accurate and repeatable NAD27 or NAD83 coordinates for all projects at all times.  This concept of always working on GRID coordinates creates a base map of our projects that is continually updated and maintained by our staff to produce geo-referenced coordinates for all projects at all times.
 

We have learned through experience that by using repeatable State Plane Coordinates perpetuated by GPS technologies, we are able to give all our clients more value. We not only create hard copy deliverables but also furnish any work we do in a digital format to help clients who are working on their own base maps.  GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is not a new fad but is relatively new to many oil and gas clients.  This procedure allows us to help them help themselves by producing data that “fits” as it is already all on the Texas State Plane NAD27 or NAD83 coordinate system.  
 

A major objective we have is to continue the integration of GIS and traditional surveying information obtained with GPS technology to not only add value to our customer service but to further the development of the Surveying Profession in our Great State of Texas.
